- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)He was out ploughing a little corner of a field that he had reclaimed. He had gathered the loose stones and had dug up the stones that were embedded down deep in the soil. He had a tough job rooting out the Whins and clearing it for ploughing.
While he was following the horses down the field, the landlords agent - a Mr Millen who was living in Linsfort, galloped up the road and made the horse jump over the ditch into the path of the corn that had been sewed. a few days before and which was near to the piece which was getting ploughed.
He galloped the horse through the corn and then told him that he seemed to be able to live comfortably and on that account his rent would be raised.
A few days later he received a letter informing him that his new rent would be three pounds more.
