When my Grandmother got married sixty-five years ago she went to live in a little house about a couple of miles from town.
She got to this house on a Thursday - for people said that it is lucky to flet on either Tuesday or Thursday -
On reaching the house she remembered that she had neither matches nor sticks to light a fire. She went to a neighbour who lived only some yards away, and asked for a couple of coals. Mrs Kearney - as she was called - told her that she would get them, but would first require to go back home, and bring her two turf. The woman did so, and she got the coals. By coals she meant the red hot burning turf- Bailitheoir
