Just beside the Red Row there used to be a row known as the Tarry Row. About forty years ago it was knocked down to make room for cottages. It was called "Tarry Row" because all the roofs were tarred.
Near where St Egney's Cottages are now there used to be another bunch of houses known as the Nailers Row. The men who lived there made and they were called Nailers. This row had also disappeared to make room for new houses.- Bailitheoir
