- A Fairy StoryPaddy was a great drunkard. He use to come home every night about twelve o'clock very drunk. One night on his way home he heard somebody crying and he vowed he would find out who it was. He followed the cry until he reaced a well. Sitting beside it was a woman combing her long hair. Paddy went up to her and took her brush and comb from her and brought them home with him.For many night after Paddy could not sleep for the crying of the banshee. She used to cry through his window. Patsy give me my brush. Patsy give me my comb. Paddy did not know what to do. He went to the Priest and the Priest told him to get a piece of iron and put the comb and brush on it and hand it out the window. Paddy did this and the iron disappeared as well as the brush and comb. If he had not put the brush and comb on the iron his arm would have disappeared. Ruby Gibson, Gulladuff, Moville.
