- There are underground chambers in Cooley about two hundred yards north west of the old Cross and Graveyard. They consist of long dug out tunnels connected by manholes.
There are four chambers open now. A manhole leads from the first to the second. From the second to the third there is another manhole and there is another from the third to the fourth. The entrance from the fourth to the fifth is blocked with clay and large stones. The roof is very low and anyone going in would have to go on their hands and knees.
The floor is sloped and there is hardly ever any water on it. It is covered with stones and clay. The second manhole is very small. The entrance into the first chamber is eleven feet long, three feet broad and three feet high and it is partly filled with clay. The second is four feet, two inches broad and four feet(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
