    In olden times the bride and groom took all their friends out with them on the day of the wedding. They rode on saddles and pillion two on every horse. The bride and her party rode in front until they came to the chapel. The bridegroom and his party followed. After they were married the bride and groom rode the one horse home.
    In very olden times they had "back-sugars" or straw saddles for the horses and the bride sat behind her husband on the back-sugar after they were married.
    The women wore bonnets and feathers. Nowadays they hire motor cars to go to the chapel. After the marriage they rode on until they came to a public house. They would spend the day there in drinking, singing, and dancing. Most of the people in those days had fiddles or flutes.
    More recently the people who were getting married employed side-cars and took fiddles and flutes with them to make the party merry. Sometimes they had trumps and tin whistles. At night they left the public houses and it was a race for home to see which of them had the best horse. They would be cheering
