- There was a shipwreck at the bar mouth about ninety eight years ago. It happened on a winter's night and the snow was falling heavily. The captain could not see where he was going. The result was the ship became stranded in the sandy bar.
The crew tried to escape but failed and they were all lost.
There was another wreck at a later date. This ship was The Twilight. It had a cargo of timber. The hull of the ship is still sticking in the bar mouth where it stuck. The timber was washed ashore and the people of the district got it. There were no lives lost in this shipwreck.- Bailitheoir
