- Long ago the people only had two meals a day. The meals that they had were breakfast and supper.
Some people long ago used to do morning work before breakfast and then they did not fell so hungry.
The breakfast they ate was a big pot of porrige. They put the pot into the middle of the floor then everbody sat around and got a spoonful in there turn.
Then about the year 1700 a man named Sir Walter Raleigh came over from another country with potatoes and tea and tobacco then they could have three meals.
They ate a lot of black bread and drank a lot of buttermilk for their supper.
Some people ate their supper around the fire and never laid a table. This is the way the old people used to celebrate Easter. They used to dye eggs and give them to the children to roll down the banks.- Bailitheoir
