Rush and Skerries men got from the island named Shinnick. He put up a gate and stopped them from getting any without his payment. At last the Rush men went down and knocked down the gate and passed into Shinnick. The police were on the scene. When the men got their wore they came homwards and right in front of the gate a deep trench was dug. They jumped off their carts and filled it up and were able to pass. A woman named Ellen Keane made this poem which suited it well.
