3rd March 1938One of the oldest festival customs in my district is held on Saint Stephen's day. All the boys go around and search for the wren. The first boy who gets the wren kills it and puts it on a bearer.
He then calls the other boys and they go from house to house saying "The wren the wren the king of all birds, on Saint Stephen's day he was caught in the furs". The people used to give the boys money and on the following Sunday if they(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
