- Once upon a time a small boy was sent to gather blackberries.
The day was beautiful and the sun shone with all its glory. The little streams ran quietly and quickly. The golden corn swayed like waves on a golden sea, and the flowers seemed to look their best that day.
Jim thinking that the fruit could be procured by someone else went and lay by the stream, where he soon fell fast asleep.
Jim, on wakening, saw his father standing above him.
His father spoke to him and said
"Why aren't you pulling the berries"
"O" said Jim "Mammy told me to have them pulled for tomorrow evening"
"Well now" said his father "didn't you often hear it said 'Never leave for tomorrow what you can do today'"
The boy, thinking this over, went and pulled the fruit for his mother.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
