In the same house there are very old boots and an old style of frieze suit. Stockings were knitted in every house through the country. The thread was spun and made into large balls during the long winter nights. Socks were often worn white as made. In some places (in Clare) they got a kind of moss growing on the walls which they boiled and put the stockings or socks into it boiling and they were coloured a light yellow brown.
