    sweet-cackes during the Lent. Long ago they would wash all the delph in the house for fear there would be any grease on them and they would not eat any meat until the Lenten Season would be over. They used to eat oaten-meal cackes and drink tea without sugar or milk. The men used to fast from tobacco. They used to leave there pipes on the hob and they would not touch them until Easter Sunday morning. On ash wednesday they used to get holy ashes to remind that they were but dusk and that to dust they would return.
