- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Houses were more numerous in former times. Ruins of houses (old cabhails) as they are called) to be met with here as elsewhere, remind us of the time "when every road of ground, maintained its man," and where our population was double what it now is.
- The ChurchIt is cruciform in shape and is built on the site of an old thatched chapel. Kiltartan was a separate parish till about 1850, when it was united to Kilmacduagh, to form the present parish of Gort. The parochial clergy, of whom there are three, live in Gort.
- The Local SchoolThe present National School was built in 1892. The present residence of Mr. Hallinan, just outside the boundary wall, was previously used as a school for the children of the parish.
- There are 87 families in the Parish, with a populatopn of 338. (December 1938). See detailed statement appended overleaf.
