    On St. John's Day the children make a bonfire. They go around from house to house collecting turf, sticks, oil or money. When they have all collected they make a big heap and light it.
    On St. Martin's Day the people kill a cock. They leave his head half off and go around to every door coming into the house and sprinkle his blood there. This is supposed to keep out all disease.
