inhabitants were admitted to their old home.
Evictions were quite frequent in the Woodford district years ago. It was on account of the poor land that the people were not able to pay the rent.
On one occasion, a number of neighbours and policemen were collected. There was great confusion and a youth saw a policeman strike a smaller boy. He at once rushed forward and knocked the policeman with a baton. He was arrested and imprisoned. He pined away in Kilkenny jail where he was starved for the offence.
