During the months of October, and November, the potatoes are dug either by hand or machine. The large ones are picked first by the youngsters, and are put in one big, long, pit which is made by the fence, or in the middle of the field. The small ones are given to the farm-animals when boiled. Some of the names of the potatoes which are grown here are Banners, Kerr’s Pink, Golden Wonders, Main Crop, Epicures, and Champions.
Bannars grow the largest, and most plentifully in my district, but Golden Wonders, and Champions are believed to contain most starch.- Bailitheoir
