There is a large stone in Turoe. The oldest stone churches in Ireland were very small. The largest churches in early Ireland were built of wood and these have long vanished. There is a large castle in Lackafinna. Every county has it's castles. All these castles were built after the Norman invasion. There were many fine dwelling-houses in ancient Ireland and later, in the towns. But these were nearly all built of wood, and no traces of them remain.
