- The leipreachan usually resides in a valley or glen. People say he is always mending shoes for the fairies. He wears a various coloured uniform and turned-up topped shoes.
The old people say he is enchanted because he can make himself invisible. He changes his residence twice in the years, in May to his Summer residence, in November to his Winter residence. People say he has a crock of gold hidden but it was never found because he always has an esccuse to draw away the attention of the people.
Once a man caught a leipreachan and asked him for his gold. After deceiving him for a time with vain esccuses he told him it was beneath a certain oak tree. Without losing any time the man dug beneath the tree until he came upon a small grey box He opened it and found a piece of paper within on which was written, "Work for money and you shall have plenty."(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
