- St. Brigid's Night.
On this night young men and boys go in crowds from house to house masked collecting money. They are called Brígeógs. They sometimes carry a doll with them which is supposed to be St. Brigid.
On that night also the people eat a big supper. Before the supper a member of the family perhaps the mother or a girl named "Brígit" goes outside and gets a bundle of rushes which have been pulled for the occasion. She goes on her at the door and knocks saying "Go on your knees and say your prayers and let St. Brigid in". All the family say their prayers. She then enters and leaves the bundle of rushes under the table and all partake of the supper. After the supper all take some of the rushes and make Crosóg Brígide. They do this because one day as St. Brigid was passing by a little hut she heard moaning inside and going inside she found a poor pagan man dying(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
