There are two local estates. The Wynne estate and the Clement estate.
Lurganboy and Ballaghmeehan which compose Wynne estate was granted to Owen Wynne who was in the army. Owen Wynne bought a house, known as "Ash House" from a man called Croen. He afterwards built Hazelwood House.
John Wynne, a son of Owen's married a lady Ann Butler who had a fortune of 500 or 600. John did not claim the fortune and this enraged his father who said "you'll need this before you're done with Hazelwood" Owen left the place to another son Willoughby and John had to buy it out.Land agents-
