  1. In former times people never wore shoes until they were twenty years of age. It was usually clogs and home spun stockings they wore.
    There was a woman named Mary Láidir (Mary Maguire) who never wore shoes, boots, or clogs. Every morning she went to mass a distance of three miles. That times the roads were rough with stones. There are six shoemakers in this district. They can both repair and make shoes.
