Nannys people as was said were very poor and the neighbours came each day with somethings for their help and comfort. Their help took the form of either food or fire- stuff. Soon Nanny was able to tell her mother when these people would come and what each was bringing. The mother became frightened at this strange power of Nanny and told the neighbours. When questioned about it herself she said she was not the child but another women in her place. The child she said was taken away. Nanny became the talk of all the neighbours. About then fiireside they talked in whispers of her. But speak as easy as they might when they visited her next night she was able to tell them of their conversation. In the neighbourhood lived one man who said he would not or could not believe that she had any unnatural or supernatural powers. One day(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
