Soap was made from tallow + a mixture of soda and lime. The mixture was boiled until it became plastic. Then it was allowed to cool and to form a solid. It was cut then in bars.
The wool was prepared for spinning by carding. when the thread was made it was coloured by moss from stones. The moss was put in water - the thread was the put into the vessel & all boiled together. Colour - nice brown.
Leather was made at home also.
