“There are holy wells in many places.”
There are holy wells in many places. People used to say it was wrong if you made any use of the water out of a holy well. If you boiled it or made any other use of it.
For instance once a servant girl was going home after carrying the dinner to the bog. She carried milk in a gallon. When she was coming home she had to cross a holy well and she didn't know anything about it.
She filled her gallon with the water out of the well and when she went home she put it down to boil and it was two hours boiling and it was as cold as ever. She threw it out the door and put down more water to boil.
