- Tobar na Fearna.
The land in which this well is situated belonged to a man named Mr. Thomas O'Hara, who had his abode in Castletown where Noone's house is at present.
This man tried to prevent the neigh-bouring people from going to the well, and they took proceedings against him. The case was tried in the High Courts of Dublin, in which the landlord, Mr. O'Hara, was defeated.
He then had to give an undertaking that he would send a bellman announcing to the people that they had permission to go to the well. The bellman's rhyme was:-
"Ta cead uisce Tobair na Fearna,
le thoil Tomás Ó Hara,
Ó mhaidin amáreach amach."
It is said that Mr. O'Hara once killed a man in the house where he lived, and since then it is supposed to be an unlucky building.(continues on next page)- Collector
