- There are some forts in this district. In the townland of Portland there is a perfectly circular fort bounded by a circle of trees. There is a trench inside the trees but there does not seem to be an interior or underground passages. There is a second fort just opposite this and in sight of it in the townland of Ballyboy. This fort has also a trench and a boundary of trees. There is a mound or hump in the centre. A cave runs under the fort and has its opening outside the fort.There is a big rock hanging out over the road near Blacklion and it is said that if any red haired woman walks under it, it will fall on her. This is called The Hanging Rock.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
