    A Holy Well
    There is a holy well in the townland of Edenmore called Patrick's well. In olden times stations were done at the well on Mondays, and Thursdays. Those stations were done like the stations of the cross. The people used to go round the trees, and pray. Now there are a couple of trees growing round the well. One large tree grows over the well, and one branch of it extends over the well, and over the stream that runs from it. Ash trees grow in a row over from the well.
    I heard Joe Mc Keon say in whose land the well is that a pattern was also held at it on Saint Patrick's Day. People used not lift water out of the well. They lifted it outside. the well is closed in by four walls but unroofed. There is a square stone outside the well. There was writing on this stone but is is faded off now.
    There is a story connected with this well. One time a man named Ambrose Mc Keon was planting bushes near the well, and an old woman with a shawl around her
