“The strongest man in our district was Bearnard Mc Cauley of Farnaught.”
The strongest man in our district was Bearnard McCauley of Farnaught. One day he was going to Carrick-on-Shannon with a young mare, and cart. The mare took fright and ran into Lough Brann with the cart. Berney then loosened the mare from the cart and pulled out the cart which is about twelve hundred in weight.- James MacPartlan of Carrickaverril was the swiftest runner in my locality. He could run as quickly as a hare and it came easy to him to do so.
