When they come home they went in to the byre and threw them around the walls; it was said that no calves or cows would die on them during the year. This custom is not carried on nowadays because it is dying out.On St Stephen's day all they boys and men used to get up early in the morning dress up in old clothes and old false faced; then they used to get a lorry and go off to the towns; some of them would have fiddles and some more of them fluites. They used to play the whole day long. In the evening they would come back and divide the money between them; then they would go to some house and have a "join" and enjoy a good time.On Saint Patrick's Day the people all wear shamrocks.
