- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)But what I saw to grieve my soul was the Madam's ass upon the shore
And with string ropes was tightly bound and couldn't gain the firm ground.
No shade or shelter it could find to shade her from the cold north wind
Alone she stands to meet her doom
While waves all round her like the cannons boom
But soon the flood did her surround
She struggled to the rising ground, and then she seen at every glance that for her life there was no chance
The river overflowed the brim, strong fetters bound her limb to limb
In vain she hopes some thoughtful friend might save her from so sad an end
She struggled hard to keep her feet, however poor
Yet live to sweet
But nature could not long endure the bitter blast that swept the moor
With feeble voice she did implore some help to bring her to the shore
No answer came but rain and hail
Her shouts were all to no avail
All hopes forsake her broken heart
For soon with dear life she must part
She says I'll never reach the shore(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
