- GamesChildren have many ways of amusing themselves when sitting around the fire at night. Forfeits is a most exciting game in the eyes of the young people. A crowd of children congerate at a certain house and the game is played as follows. When the crowd is settled comfortable around the fire a leader is appointed. The appointed leader gets a sop from the brush and reddens it in the fire. Then he gives it to the first person in the line and tells him to repeat the following words. "Jack is alive and alive still if he dies in my arms a forfeit I'll get". If the sop dies out while he is saying these words he gets a forfeit from the leader. He might be told to go out and kiss a cow or an ass or any such thing.An other very interesting game is Blind man's bluff in which one of the players is blind-folded so that he would not see. The blind man must then try to catch some of the other players who in turn becomes the blind-man and so on.Another favourite game is "Dan, Dan, thread the needle" For this game two leaders are(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
