- Patrick Roche better known as Patts was a great strong man, who lived in Rahavanig in the Ballybunion Parish. He was born on about 1845 and lived a bachelor all his life he died about 1936. He was known to be a very honest man always earned his living by the sweat of his brow and it is said he hardly knew his own strength. At one he was herding cattle for a farmer, one day a cow was crossing a fence into a garden, and when Patts saw her he ran to stop her but the cow was half over the fence. He grabbed her tail and gave such a pull that he pulled it off. Some time later the farmer asked how the cow lost her tail, he told what had happened but maintained that it was rotten.
