- There is a fort in Ballyline about two miles from Ballylongford and it is situated in the land of Mrs Mary Lavery. This fort is circular in shape and is surrounded by trees.
A man named Peter Scanlon who lived in the neighbourhood was taken into this fort on a May Eve by the "Good People." Inside, he saw and heard many strange things, first the finest music he ever heard, followed by the grandest supper he had ever saw before. There was plenty to eat and drink of all kinds.
As he sat down to eat , who did he see, but one of his greatest friends who had been dead for over a year. This once great friend told him to eat(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
