    Once upon a time there lived an old woman and her daughter beside a fort.

    Once upon a time there lived an old woman and her daughter beside a fort. One night the girl went out to put the ducks into their house for the night. There was no trace of the ducks anywhere around the place. She then went into the fort to see if the ducks were there, and she found them in a small corner of the fort. Just as she was driving them out a little fairy man in a red jacket stopped her. He offered her some fruit to eat, but she would not eat it. If she took the fruit the fairies would keep herself and the ducks instead of the fruit. They kept her there till about twelve o'clock that night. Then her mother came to look for the
