Others had to go out and pick "copogs" and "foran" to keep them all alive. Lots of people were put out of their house for they were not able to pay the rent and rates and had to go to the caves.
One day a man was going along a road with an ass and cart. He had to get out several times to clear the way because it was packed with dead people. Some others had to dig holes back in a bank of turf. Plenty of people done away with themselves when they saw death coming to them.
