    when I say pull let you let go, and when I say let go you pull, and if the person is not quick enough to understand what he says, he will give him a blow on the hand with the rod.
    This is the way to play "Standers." First I get nine stones and fix them in a circle on the ground about a yard from each other. Then nine girls and myself will stand one at each stone and the girl that has no stone must stand in the middle. Then the other girls run around on the stones and if the girl in the middle gets a chance of a stone, the girl that has the "one" is called the fool in the middle and she must go into the middle untill she gets a chance of a stand.
    I play many games around the fire in Winter to pass away the long nighs, such as "Cherries growing on the hob," "Mind the coal at the fire" and "Sprawl."
