- There is much forge work carried on in this district still. A man who works in a forge is called a blacksmith. A balcksmith's workshop is called a forge. A forge is a building of one apartment with a wide entrance door and is usually situated on the roadside.In a forge there is a large coal fire kept. This fire is kept alight by blowing it with a bellows. There is a large anvil standing on a block of wood near the fire. On this anvil the smith hammers iron into any shape he likes.There is a strong wooden bench running along one of side of the forge and there is a heavy iron vice fixed at one end of the bench.The smith uses various tools including sledges, hammers, iron tongs and pincers.He makes farm implements used by the farmer such as(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
