- The Cure of the Sprain 20-10-1938The cure of the sprain is a common cure in Ireland. Either a man or a woman can have this cure. If a person sprains his foot or hand he usually goes and gets the cure made. He takes with him a flax thread and some fresh butter. The person that makes the cure takes the thread and butter and kneels down and says some prayers over them.Then while he prays he puts knots on the thread. This thread has to be put on the part that is sprained and the butter has to be rubbed on it well also. This has to be left on it for nine days and it will be alright then. Many people have got this cure made and has found out that it is a good one.Told by John Branley, Muckrim
