- IIn olden times the people took no tea except at Easter or Christmas, and they used to make a great feast at this time of year.They took three meals every day, breakfast, dinner and supper. For the breakfast they took thick milk and oaten-bread. They took (brusy) "bruisey" and butter for the dinner. The old people sat at a small table, and the children sitting on the middle of the floor around a big basket of potatoes. They took boxty at the evening meal and thick milk. They used to eat fresh meat and fish with no salt.

- IIAbout three meals were taken each day long ago Potatoes were the principal food eaten. Sweet milk was also drank. The table was in the centre of the floor and it was left in a corner when not in use.Canadian meat was eaten in great quantities The bread used long ago was potato cake and boxty. Cream cake was eaten on certain holidays.Tea was used long ago but not in as great a quantity as at the present time
