- On Garland Sunday 1932, there were two lives lost at Enniscrone:- Jack Helly from Enniscrone and Ruane from Ballina. Ruane from Ballina went out bathing and he was heated by cycling from Ballina, and when e went out he was not able to come in.
Jack Helly from Enniscrone went out to save him. When Ruane caught hold of Jack Helly and he pulled him down, then both of them were drowned
There were about eleven feet of water where they drowned.
Helly was found that evening but it was either a week or ten days when Ruanne was found(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
