- Long ago schools were mot as numerous as they are nowadays. There is an old school in Mounttown. In olden times the children were taught along the hedges and in old barns. The teachers used to lodge in the neighbouring houses. The childred used to give the teacher some money for their teaching. The teacher used to write all subjects on the blackboard and teach ait to the children, Arithmetic and reading was what was principally taught long ago. The children used no books of any kind.
