   He showed how proudly his Irish bosom.
   Did thus ignore what they tried to do.
   He loved old Èrin since his tender boyhood.
   O! God be with you, P.A. McHugh.

   On the Hills of Geevagh where raged the landwar.
   His voice did thunder both loud and high.
   "Come seize the land and drive out the cattle"
   Was what he told us at once to try.
   He travelled Ireland with the Geevagh prisoners.
   Through courts and dungeons where friends were few.
   But in return we can only mourn.
   And pray for glory for the great McHugh.
   There's many a warrior up in the mountains
   Who will remember old Drumahair.
   When Smith, R.M.Jones, and Queen's McGuire
   And all their forces were gathered there.
   The Crown did order to proclaim the meeting
   And send guns and batons our heads to hew.
   But instead of one there were seven meetings
   All well conducted by bold McHugh.
