There are not many customs in connection with Christmas because it is a very religious festival. Every family eats a big supper on Christmas Night and on Christmas Day they have a big dinner. The custom which the children have on Christmas Night, is to hang their stockings beside the fire or at the foots of their beds for Santa Claus to fill them with toys.
St Stephen's Day which is the day after Christmas Day, is kept as a holiday. This day is kept holy, because St Stephen was stoned to death for his faith. On this day also the school boys dress in torn clothes and they go from house to house gathering money. Not alone to the school boys go to the houses but big boys also dress in old clothes, get a dead wren, and when they go to the houses they pretend that they want money before they can buy the wren, but if they can get any, they divide it between themselves.
