   the people believed that somebody had taken the butter. If anybody entered a house while churning was going on and borrowed anything they were supposed to bring the butter and also before leaving they should help to churn or take a "dreas" as the people called it.

   It was a custom in olden times to throw salt three times over the churning before beginning and now-a-days we see many people do it also to prevent anybody from bringing the butter. Cold water is sometimes added and also boiling water to bring on the butter quickly.

   At the present day we hear many stories about churning in olden times but at present the people prevent it from being brought by singeing the milch cow three on the back with
