- In olden times people had strange customs before, during and after marriages, and celebrated them with different customs to which they do now. When the feast was on a few local boys dressed up in straw to visit the wedding feast and ask for money. The bridegroom gave them some money.
In every district there was a local matchmaker. When a man wanted to get married he sent for the matchmaker who was then sent to the appointed house. The man takes a long road so that no one would see him. he was sure to be asked to the wedding. When he was seen going a place everyone was looking to see where he was going.
