When the "tinkers" as they were called visited a district they only remained three weeks or a month.
The "gipsies" wne around from house to house carrying baskets and selling brushes, combs pictures, flowers and many other things like these. The "gipsies" were the wealthiest of the travellers.
Other travellers that went around from house to house were called "tramps." Many people gave them shelter in old barns and all the people of the district gathered to the house to hear the tramp tell many old stories.
