- Caps in the Long AgoMrs Grey of Carrowreagh Cloonkeavy - Ballymote gives the following information to her daughter Alice Grey from whose book this has been copied. Some of these Caps were made from white muslin. On them were three rows of fine white lace. The lace in the front of the Cap was flat but at the sides they piped it with a tally Iron "Some called this Bordering". They had two little straps made from the same material as the Caps and these were tied under the chin.
At the end of the Straps there were two bits of lace and these suspended from the chin. These Caps were as white as snow and were well ironed and pressed. It was the tidy little women that used to wear these little caps. They also wore a shawl(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
