- When Cromwell visited Ireland he was in this parish and it is said, that one day when he and his army were passing through Mt. Irwin that they blew the roof off Mt. Irwin Friary and that they killed a lot of people too.
The people that they killed were buried in fields nearby and in one field there is a place that is about a foot higher than the rest of the field.
On this height there is a flat, round, stone and a lot of other small stones. Lights were often seen around this height and I often heard that the farmer about often tried to move the stone but they were unable to do so.
There are also a lot of other stones sticking up out of the ground but I never heard any stories about them but that some of the men Cromwells army killed were buried(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
