- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)mountainsides. During this time of the year people used to get married and had no mode of conveyance to go to the church but to go on foot. At this particular time of the year a man by the name of Jeremiagh Sullivan who lived in Gortdarrig was to get married. They had to go on foot to the chapel to get married. A man by the name of Denis Buckley who lived in Gortnagown had a flock of sheep in Gortnagown and in the morning when they got up no sheep could be seen. They went out to look for the sheep and and they were walking over them on the snow They noticed the holes in the snow and after seven weeks the snow melted and they found the sheep in the very same place where they had seen the holes. They came to the conclusion that it was the breathing of the sheep that caused the holes to be on the snow. When the sheep were found they saw that they had eaten the skin off the ground. When they found them they were scarcely alive.
